Towing a car out of the county: how it works

Sometimes the car has to go farther than the shop down the street: a repair shop in another county, a family member's house, a dealer or a buyer. Here's how longer tows work.

What ZeroTow covers

ZeroTow picks up anywhere in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The drop-off can be outside that area. The app prices tows up to 70 miles. Anything longer is quoted by phone before a driver is sent, and you accept the quote before anything is dispatched.

How to book a longer tow

  • Open the app or zerotow.com and put the pin where the car is.
  • Enter the drop-off address, even if it's in another county. If the trip is over the app's limit, you'll be told to call (844) ZERO-TOW for a quote.
  • Have the make, model, year and condition ready, and whether the car rolls, so the right truck is sent.
  • Tell us the date and time you want. A planned tow can be scheduled up to 7 days ahead.

Things to check first

  • Is the place open when the truck arrives? Shops and dealers often won't accept a car after hours without arrangements.
  • Does the shop or buyer have a lot or lockbox for the keys? Ask where to leave the car and keys.
  • Is the car registered and insured? A tow doesn't change that, but a buyer or shop will ask for paperwork.
  • Take your valuables and personal papers out of the car before it goes.

For very long distances

If the car has to go a few hundred miles or out of state, a car-transport company that moves cars on a multi-car trailer may be the more practical choice. A local tow is built for getting a car from here to there fast, not for a cross-country move. If you're not sure which fits, call us and we'll tell you honestly.

Photos before the hook

As on every ZeroTow tow, the driver photographs the car from every side before loading it, and you sign off. Your card is held when you book and charged after the car is delivered and you confirm.
